Drake fending off Prince for top of UK singles chart

Drake is on course to stay at No.1 on the UK singles chart for a third week in a row.

The Official Charts Company confirmed in their midweek update today (April 25) that the Canadian's 'One Dance' is still topping the chart.

However, Prince's 'Purple Rain' is providing strong competition at No.2 following the musician's death last week.

The song has risen a massive 63 places since Friday (April 22).

At No.3 on the midweek update is Sia's 'Cheap Thrills', while Mike Posner's 'I Took A Pill In Ibiza' drops one place to No.4.

DNCE's 'Cake By The Ocean' is up four places to No.5.

Prince's 'When Doves Cry' is No.6, with 'Kiss' at No.11 and 'Raspberry Beret' up to No.15.

'1999' is at No.17, while 'Little Red Corvette' is placed at No.26.

As previously reported, Prince is also enjoying the whole of the UK albums chart's top five to himself.
