Drake names Rihanna and Nicki Minaj as this generation's female icons

Canadian rapper Drake has declared Nicki Minaj and Rihanna as the two most iconic performers of this generation.

The 'Forever' hitmaker was interviewed by Rap Up magazine and had nothing but praise for the two superstars, who he has also previously collaborated with, and explained that their respective contributions to modern music are invaluable:

"I really wanted to bring [Rihanna] into our world but still allow her to be herself. I think she really shines bright. She comes from a place that's so rich in culture, so rich in music, but being the most iconic female period right now."

"Next to Nicki Minaj of course," he added quickly. "[Nicki] is just doing incredible, she's my favourite person."
