Drake: "My success isn't a fluke"

Drake wants his new single to show people his success isn't "just a fluke".

The superstar rapper unveiled his new track 'Started From the Bottom' from his upcoming 'Nothing was the Same' LP earlier this month.

Drake posted the track on his October's Very Own Blog, accompanied by a letter to his fans about his climb to success.

The 26-year-old star hopes the track gives fans some insight into his earlier life.

Talking to MTV News, Drake explained: "I just wanted to make it known that I did work really hard to get here and it wasn't just a fluke and it wasn't easy by any means.

He added: "The gist of it was kinda the back story of my life. I don't really speak on it that much, which kinda allows people the opportunity to make up what they want about me."

The 'Take Care' hitmaker - who was set to reveal the track on Grammy night later this month - explained that his rise to stardom is generally misunderstood.

Earlier this month the star took to his blog to write an accompanying message after unveiling the new track.

He explained: "I did not buy my way into this spot and it was the furthest thing from easy to achieve. I am proud of every part of my past and I'm excited for this song to find a place in your life as well. I didn't feel I needed any interviews or radio or press to launch this song. It felt right to come back to the site that I started on and release it to the people that started here with me."
