Interview with Brooke Forman — ‘Can’t Take Our Eyes Off You’ SingerERA welcomes Brooke and has high hopes for international touring spotsWe love when connections come naturally. Thanks to our artist, and friend, @mrsterlingfox we were introduced to Brooke Forman and had the chance to interview her about the intriguing life she has. “For me, it's like NYC on Japanese crack and walking through its streets” Where is your favorite place to visit? Who are your biggest inspirations?Stevie Nicks ever since I was a child; she is the definition of a rock goddess! I am super inspired by Amy Winehouse, who really was one of the greatest artists of our time. I really love Lana Del Rey because I feel like she pushes boundaries and every word in her lyrics paints a picture. Her music projects a cinematic vision, which is always something I strive to portray in my music. I also have to say, Sterling Fox has truly been one of those huge inspirations for me who I have looked up to for years now. I think he is one of the most talented and relevant writers in the music industry today. I feel overwhelmed and blessed that I am able to get the opportunity to work with him on getting this project out to the world. When did you know music was your calling?I think I have known ever since I was a little kid. It has always been something that was talked about and that I have fought to make strives for. I was writing poetry and songs since the 3rd grade. I was skipping high school just to take the train to NYC to try to get into audition rooms. Then after college, I was working for record labels and I hit a cross point where I just knew I wasn't meant to work on the other side of the desk, that I was an artist. Ever since then, I have just been plugging away. I always say "dream on little dreamer", because I feel like that really depicts who I am as a person. How do you create meaning behind the work you put in?For myself as an artist, I draw my biggest inspiration from living life experiences. I only write about things that I have gone through and I treat every experience as a lesson for my art. Therefore, everything I put out into the world has meaning to me since it comes from me. I believe when people feel your connection and emotion to something, that drives them to feel, even if only for a small moment, then your job has been done. If you were in the Emergency Room what would it be for and why?I have been to the emergency room only once when I got my finger trapped in the crack of a door freshman year of college. A drunk old man in the waiting room next to me, spit his dentures right out of his mouth landing right onto my lap! I am hoping that's the last time I will ever have to go back to the ER.
