Ed Sheeran fell "in and out of love" with new album

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he had a love/hate relationship with his upcoming new album.

The singer-songwriter has been busy for some time working on the follow-up to his 2011 debut record '+'.

He is expected to unleash the collection before he tours the UK and Ireland in October.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1, however, Sheeran said that he sometimes grew to dislike his record before producer Rick Rubin stepped in to reinvigorate things.

He said: "It was one of these things that I fell in and out of love with. [Rick Rubin] re-energized me to be excited about the album again. [It was] coming at the songs from a different direction and making sure they had the live vibe as well as the actual song craft."

Sheeran meanwhile has revealed that his upcoming arena tour will still see the British songsmith perform with just an acoustic guitar.
