Ed Sheeran announces the title of his new album

'Lego House' superstar Ed Sheeran has confirmed that his upcoming sophomore album will be called "'x' or 'multiply'".

The British singer-songwriter took to his official Twitter page earlier this evening (April 4) and shared the highly anticipated news, writing: "My 2nd album is called 'x' or 'multiply' and will released on the 23rd of June worldwide. Can't wait for you guys to hear it."

On Monday, April 7, the record's lead single will premiere on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 evening show and Capital FM DJ Marvin Humes has teased fans by telling them that he has heard the track and thinks it's amazing: "So @EdSheeran played me his new single yesterday.. It is VERY good.. Gonna have a chat with him on Monday night on my show @CapitalOfficial."

Back in March, Sheeran admitted that he wrote around 120 songs for the album so was able to pick the best of the lot for the final tracklisting: "It’s the work I’m most proud of. I’ve cherry picked the best songs and worked with the best producers. My first album was a bit rushed because I’d just been signed and wanted to put something out before I was shelved.”
