Ed Sheeran on new song 'Don't': "It's 100 per cent true"

Ed Sheeran has been discussing an intriguing new song on his forthcoming album ‘x’.

‘Don’t’ sees the British musician singing about a relationship gone wrong due to a woman’s infidelity.

There has been speculation over who Ed is talking about in ‘Don’t – both the female love interest and the man she cheats on Ed with.

In an interview with The Telegraph - where the track is described as having "very specific detail his brief sexual relationship with another A-list artist, and her subsequently betraying him with another pop star" - Ed said of the song: “I’m gonna get some angry emails after it.”

After revealing that Taylor Swift had been given a preview listen of ‘x’ Ed relayed her reaction to ‘Don’t’ as: “She said she’s glad she’s never p***** me off.”

When asked what he thinks Ellie Goulding – a rumoured ex-girlfriend – will make of the track Sheeran replied:

“I dunno… What do you think?”

The ‘Sing’ star is adamant that the song’s subjects will remain unknown but he did inform them that he was writing a song about the love triangle.

Ed explained: “I just said, ‘just so you know, there is a song.’ And they said, ‘expected that.’ ’Cause of the situation. You know, I didn’t lie at all. It’s 100 per cent true. I actually shied away from some of it. But for me in my head, that song is enough getting even. And the fact that it will stay anonymous is good for me. I’ve written a song about it and I’ve levelled the playing field.”
