Ed Sheeran says Sam Smith is his musical inspiration

Ed Sheeran has praised Sam Smith and suggested that he is his current musical inspiration.

The British singer unleashed his debut album 'In The Lonely Hour' earlier this year and it seems to have had a big impact on Sheeran.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, the singer-songwriter was asked who he is listening to at the moment or who he finds musically inspiring.

Sheeran replied: "I think Sam Smith - that will be the album of the year. Easily. I think he’s incredible, and a really nice guy as well. It’s nice when you get both of them right when it’s great album and good person, because you get so many great person, not good albums or great album, not good person. He’s got the package."

Speaking meanwhile about the theme of calling his two albums '+' and 'x' - as well us using a distinct colour - the Brit said:

"That theme’s going to carry on at some point but I think the next record I put out won’t be part of that theme and it won’t just be me, it will probably be a collaboration as well."
