Ed Sheeran is to star in the first interactive music TV advert.

The singer-songwriter is teaming up with E4 to take part in a full-length advert that will see the Brit perform a song.

He will appear on TV screens at 7.58pm UK time on Thursday (June 26) to introduce the concept before the channel shows an episode of the Big Bang Theory.

Fans will then vote via Twitter to pick which song they would like to see Sheeran play at 8:28pm.

The 3 minute 20 second acoustic performance will take place in a studio in one take.

Sheeran commented: "For me, this is a really cool way to show songs from the album that fans will have never seen performed in this way before. 

"It gives my fans the chance to decide [which song] from the new album they want to see most. Their involvement is really important to me."

The Brit meanwhile released his second album 'x' on Monday (June 23).
