Ed Sheeran: 'If my album's done by the end of the tour it'll come out then, if not it's 2016'

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran recently confessed that his next studio album won't be out until 2016, but he has now revealed that there's one condition that could change that and make the release date a lot sooner.

Speaking to Billboard about his plans for the near future, the 'Lego House' hitmaker admitted that he's working on new music as he tours so if the project is finished in good time it will be released as a new studio album at the end of the jaunt otherwise there will be a considerable hiatus:

"I'm writing and recording on the road, preparing for the third album. If it's done by the end of the tour, it'll come out straight after the tour. But if not, it'll come out in 2016. There's an Usher [song] coming. I went to a Passover seder with him at a Jewish friend's house. I sat next to him, and after a lot of red wine, we ended up in the studio that night with Skrillex. Me and Skrillex made a beat, me and Usher wrote the topline, and Usher put a rap on it. It's good."

Earlier this week, Sheeran told The Sun newspaper that 'Thinking Out Loud' will probably be his last single from current studio album 'x': "After 'Thinking Out Loud', I don't think I should do another single from 'x'. Three is a good number. I did six on the last album and it felt too much. You never go away and people get p*ssed off. Bruno Mars did three, Taylor Swift did three and Adele did three. I'll probably end up with four singles so I have a song to go into the BRIT Awards with next year."
