Ed Sheeran says One Direction sound 'great' on new song he wrote for them

Ed Sheeran has teased more details about his new One Direction collaboration.

The singer-songwriter recently confirmed that he has penned the song '18' for the boyband's upcoming new album 'FOUR'.

Speaking in an interview with Capital FM conducted on Tuesday (October 14), the 'x' star said that the group are sounding "great" on the tune, which was solely written for One Direction.

Sheeran said: "I'm really happy with the record that I wrote for them. It's the first record I've actually specifically written for them.

"The other ones were my records that just didn't make it only my album, just because I had too many slow songs. But this one, I remember I had a meeting with them and he said we need a song. And the day after I wrote it and sent it over, and they sound great on it! It's good."

Sheeran has previously written tracks like 2012's chart-topping 'Little Things' for One Direction.

'FOUR' meanwhile will be released on November 17.
