Ed Sheeran on meeting idols: 'It's nice to see people I admire saying good things about me'

Earlier this year, hitmaker Ed Sheeran posted a message about getting to meet a musical idol of his and he has now opened up about the amazing experience.

When asked who the musical hero that he mentioned in his tweet was, the star explained to BBC Newsbeat that it was non other than Van Morrison:

"Growing up as a kid, he was the person I listened to starting off, so being able to chat to him for two hours. it kind of made my job feel very, very surreal. We chatted about music and what is happening now, in the digital age."

The 'Thinking Out Loud' sensation went onto add that it's incredibly rewarding to hear supportive and kind words from artists he looks up to and admires: "From the looks of things on the media forefront, people might not think anyone likes me. So it's nice to see people I look up to and admire say good things."
