Ed Sheeran spends his twelfth week at the top of the UK album chart

Ed Sheeran’s ‘X’ is finishing 2014 at No. 1 for its twelfth non-consecutive week.

Sheeran’s LP has enjoyed a sales boost over the festive period with ‘X’ selling 211,000 copies over the past seven days – the biggest one-week sales rate since its release back in June.

Like Ed Sheeran at No. 1, the rest of this week’s top five albums are all non-movers. Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ remains at No. 2, Olly Murs’ ‘Never Been Better’ stays at No. 3, George Ezra’s ‘Wanted On Voyage’ sticks at No. 4, and Take That’s ‘III’ holds on to the No. 5 spot.

There have been no new entries to this week’s Top 40 album chart.
