Ed Sheeran has suffered the embarrassment of crashing a car on Top Gear.

The musician took part in the TV show's 'star in a reasonably priced car' segment on Wednesday (January 21).

The feature tasks celebrities with racing around a course in the quickest time possible.

However, the Brit doesn't have a licence and he has never driven in his life.

It turned sour for Sheeran soon after starting the lap, with the BBC reporting that the singer-songwriter was seen veering off the track and onto the grass more than once.

Before the filming, the musician tweeted:

"I'm driving for the first time ever today, on a race track, on tv. Wish me luck."

He later said: "Had a brilliant time filming top gear today. Tune in on Sunday."
