Ed Sheeran wanted Benedict Cumberbatch to appear in 'Sing' video

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he talked to Benedict Cumberbatch about the actor appearing in a music video.

The singer-songwriter told BBC Radio 1 today (February 24) that he wanted the Sherlock man to feature in his 'Sing' video.

However, the idea never got off the ground and the promo clip ultimately starred Sheeran, collaborator Pharrell Williams and a puppet.

The 'x' star said: "We had a few conversations about it, some dinner - we ate roast chicken. A conversation was about as far as it got.

"The original idea that I had was him breakdancing, and doing all that. You know, like the Christopher Walken video, but doing that in a karaoke bar with a load of Korean dudes.

"It never really got past the conversation. I'll find a better idea and approach him with it, but he's Oscar nominated now, I don't know if he's up for dancing around with Koreans in a music video."
