Ed Sheeran has comforted an X Factor New Zealand contestant after he was "bullied" by two of the show's judges.

Husband and wife duo Natalia Kills and Willy Moon have been sacked from the programme after making disparaging comments about Joe Irvine on Sunday (March 15).

Kills, who said Irvine copied her husband, said at one point:

"I'm embarrassed to be sitting here in your presence having to dignify that with an opinion."

Ed Sheeran reached out to the singer today (March 16) to say:

"Don't worry about what anyone else says man. Enjoy yourself with it, that's what singing is about, not what other people think."

Kills and Moon were dumped from the New Zealand X Factor following public outcry and allegations of bullying.
