Ed Sheeran's 'x' has hit the two million sales milestone in the UK.

The musician released his second album in June last year and it became an instant hit.

The Official Charts Company have now confirmed that it has sold its two millionth copy in the UK.

'x' is only the fifth album to reach the milestone this decade, following on from the likes of efforts from Adele and Take That.

39 albums have sold two million copies since 2000 - but only eight have done so within a year.

Sheeran commented: "So chuffed to hear X has just hit the 2 million mark in the UK!

"Looking forward to getting back there for my Wembley shows in July and celebrating with you all."
