Ed Sheeran's 'X' goes 7 times Platinum

Superstar Ed Sheeran has enjoyed incredible success with his latest studio album, 'X', and it has now been confirmed that the offering has been certified 7 times Platinum, which means that it has sold over 7,000,000 copies.

The BPI announced the exciting news this afternoon (May 8) and explained that the record has achieved huge new heights: "We're happy to announce that @edsheeran's album 'X' has just gone 7x Platinum. What a huge achievement! #bpiAwards."

Sheeran recently told Sydney's Daily Telegraph that he struggled to sing during his trip down under and blames it on unavoidable factors such as air-conditioning and being on planes:

"It was scary. It was a difficult tour in that respect, a lot of air conditioning and a lot of flying dries you up... I had to be more sensible than I usually am. (Hit song) One was in there (the setlist) but because my voice went I couldn't do falsetto. It had to come out... It'll be different when I come back to Australia in December."
