Ed Sheeran has made a new UK chart record.

His track 'Thinking Out Loud' has now spent 52 consecutive weeks in the singles chart top 40.

It achieved the feat at the weekend when it was placed at No.28.

The tune was released last year off of the 2014 album 'x'.

Pharrell Williams' 2013 song 'Happy' nearly became the first track to reach the year-long record

It racked up 49 weeks in the top 40 before slipping out.

Sheeran meanwhile has just also made an Australian chart record.

His record 'x' has now spent one year in the albums chart's top ten.
