Ed Sheeran set to appear in new FX drama 'The Bastard Executioner'

Earlier this month, flame-haired musician Ed Sheeran teased that he has been signed up to star in "a few episodes" of a "really dark medieval TV show", and more details about both the show and his role have now emerged.

Billboard magazine has now reported that the programme he will appear in is Kurt Sutter’s forthcoming FX drama, The Bastard Executioner. The 'Lego House' sensation has been tipped to play a character named Sir Cormac, who is described as "an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder".

Sutter is the creator of the hugely popular series 'Sons of Anarchy', which Sheeran has declared himself a huge fan of and even recorded a cover of Foy Vance’s 'Make It Rain' for the penultimate episode. Tweeting about the exciting news this evening (July 27), Sutter told his followers that he is happy to have Sheeran on board: "So excited to have my mate, Ed, join our bloody little adventure. Legend!"
