Ed Sheeran to receive honorary degree from Suffolk university

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will be honoured in his native Suffolk later this summer with an honorary doctorate from University Campus Suffolk.

The 'Thinking Out Loud' sensation explained that he is overwhelmed by the constant support from his hometown and feels very lucky to be receiving the honorary degree from such a progressive institution:

"Suffolk is very much where I call home and I'm always welcomed back and get so much support. Receiving this recognition is a real privilege. UCS is at an exciting point in its development and I look forward to building links with UCS and its students in the months and years to come."

Sheeran, meanwhile, recently opened up about being a role model to young people and confessed that the only thing he wants to do is to inspire them to pursue their passions and to be themselves: "The key is just to be human and real and yourself. Your job as a role model isn't necessarily just to behave. I think being a good role model is teaching kids to be themselves."
