Ed Sheeran planning nine-month break next year

Ed Sheeran has suggested he is set to follow One Direction in taking a prolonged break in 2016.

The boyband recently announced that they will be going on hiatus from March next year.

It seems singer-songwriter Sheeran will be the next to follow suit, with the musician telling The Sun that he plans on taking nine months out of the spotlight.

The Brit has been busy for years touring his 2011 debut album '+' and 2014's 'x'.

He said: "I'll put a post out [online] saying, 'I'm with friends and family - if you love me you'll allow me to disappear for a few months and I'll speak to you in a bit'. I think a break for me is coming off my phone, social media and emails.

"I am constantly on my phone, texting, replying to emails, on Twitter, on Snapchat, on Facebook. I just want to get off it and live and drive to places and listen to music and have normal conversations with people and get back to normality.

"I've got a packed schedule, then, when December 12 comes, it’s done."

Sheeran is set to play a number of stadium dates in Australia in December.
