Ed Sheeran to set UK singles chart record with new tracks

Ed Sheeran is on course to make a new UK singles chart record as he enjoys huge success with his two comeback tracks.

The singer-songwriter unleashed 'Shape Of You' and 'Castle On The Hill' on Friday (January 6) and the Official Charts Company confirmed on Monday (January 9) the tunes are No.1 and No.2 respectively.

They have shifted 215,000 combined sales between them so far this week. If he stays put come Friday (January 13), Sheeran will become the first artist to enter the chart at No.1 and No.2 with two new tracks.

At No.2 on the midweek update is Rag N Bone Man with 'Human', while Clean Bandit finally let go of their No.1 spot as 'Rockabye' slips to No.4. Little Mix's 'Touch' rounds off the top five and 'September Song' by JP Cooper shoots up nine places to No.7.

Starley is up 18 spots to No.8 with 'Call On Me' while Jax Jones & Raye’s 'You Don’t Know Me' has enjoyed a big rise to No.9.
