Ed Sheeran is set to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones.

Speaking at the SXSW film festival in Texas, Game of Thrones producers, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, said they've been trying to book the 'Shape of You' hitmaker for some time now.

His role is still to be confirmed, but we promise to keep you updated as the news comes in.

It's not Sheeran's first cameo appearance in a TV show. He also appeared in a 2015 episode of the Australian soap opera Home and Away.

Previous musical cameos have included members of Coldplay, Mastodon, Of Monsters and Men, and Sigur Ros.
