Ed Sheeran has this week's number one album

Ed Sheeran's '+' enters this week's Official UK Top 40 Albums Chart at number one.

'+' is Sheeran's first album on a major label after signing with Asylum/Atlantic. 'The A Team' his debut single from the album spent 12 weeks in the Top 10 before he released its follow-up, 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'.

The Framlington singer previously said of the follow-up which is numer 12 in this week's singles chart: "You Need Me was such a thorn in my side for such a long time. So many people turned it down, didn't want to play it and said I should stop playing it."

The other new entries in The Official UK Albums Chart this week are Laura Marling's 'A Creature I Don't Know' at number 4, The Kooks' 'Junk Of The Heart' at number 10, Dream Theater's 'A Dramatic Turn Of Events' at number 17, and Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton's 'Play The Blues: Live From Jazz At Lincoln Center' at number 40.
