Ed Sheeran hints at Olympics closing ceremony performance

Flame-haired singer Ed Sheeran has addressed the reports that suggest he might take the stage at the upcoming Olympics closing ceremony and hinted "it would be quite a moment for me".

Speaking to MTV News, the 'Little Bird' hitmaker explained that he was told not to talk about the situation, but was surprised to see rumours all over the press just a day later:

"I was told not to say anything about [performing] and then as soon as I was told not to say anything about that it was in the Daily Mail the next day. It was a bit odd. The closing ceremony, there were rumours I am playing the closing ceremony. Those rumours may or may not be true."

When asked if there's any truth in the talk about performing alongside iconic group The Who at the highly anticipated event, Sheeran added:

"If I was to play the closing ceremony, I might be playing with quite a big rock band and I might be playing one of their most famous hits. Might be. And if I was doing that, it would feel quite fun, I think. And it would be quite a moment for me. But that's if I was doing it."
