Ed Sheeran on writing for One Direction

Ed Sheeran has opened up about writing for One Direction.

The singer-songwriter helped write the track 'Moments', which featured as a bonus track on the band's 2011 debut album 'Up All Night'.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Sheeran said that 'Moments' was always suited for a pop group. He said:

"It was always a song that I always intended for a boy band. I was like, 'This is my boy band song, but I'm never going to sing it. I just held on to it for a long period of time."

The 'A Team' star has also been helping to write One Direction's new album, which is due to be released later this year.

Sheeran meanwhile has also penned a track with Taylor Swift, which is set to feature on her forthcoming new album 'Red'.

The album is set to be released on October 22 but details of the pair's collaboration has largely been kept secret.
