Ed Sheeran on Taylor Swift: 'I expected her to have a 'douchebag pass' but she was lovely'

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has revealed that his preconceptions about well-known American recording artists were well and truly shattered when he met Taylor Swift because she turned out to be "the loveliest person that I've met".

The 'Lego House' superstar, who recorded a duet with Swift for her new album 'Red', told SB.TV that there are certain traits he attributes with famous pop stars from the U.S. although he was pleasantly surprised to discover that Swift had none of them:

"Writing with Taylor Swift was cool, recording with her was cool. She's like a really sound person. In England once you get to a certain point you kind of know everyone and everyone's relatively humble and cool. But in America once you get to a certain level it's kind of like you get a douchebag pass. Like there are certain artists who are just allowed to be douches."

"Taylor Swift's one of those people who is the biggest selling female artist in the world right now, like her last record sold just as much as Adele's, which is pretty mental to think. When I first met her I expected her to be one of these artists that is kind of allowed to have a douchebag pass, but she was just like the loveliest person that I've met."

Swift's forthcoming new album will be released on October 22 and her collaboration with Sheeran, entitled 'Everything Has Changed', is confirmed to feature on it.
