Ed Sheeran praised by label staff as Billboard tip him for big things in 2013

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has been earmarked as one to watch next year by U.S. company Billboard and his label staff and management have praised his talent and relentless work ethic.

The feature, posted by Billboard (December 18), explains how Sheeran's passion for music has propelled him to international heights of fame and Julie Greenwald, chairman and chief operating officer of Atlantic, confessed that he is a 'timeless artist' who has mass appeal:

"The beautiful thing about Ed is he wrote classic, timeless records. We don't have to worry about whether he fits in with what's happening right now - that's why people love him so much. And whether you see him in a small room or a big stage, for him to do his whole album by himself is so powerful. It doesn't feel acoustic, it feels like a full, live band."

Mike Caren, president of A&R at Warner Music Group, added: "Ed was almost the perfect artist. It was clear that nothing was going to stop him from being successful. On top of that he was humble, intelligent, and prioritized in all the right ways."

Sheeran, who was recently nominated for a GRAMMY, is set to support Taylor Swift on her headlining tour of north America next year and he admitted that it'll be a fantastic opportunity as he's excited to get to grips with life in the USA:

"What I'm looking forward to is just spending a long time in the States and embracing the culture. You know, start going to basketball games and just doing regular American stuff."
