Ed Sheeran: 'I've been given a title and am now a Baron'

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has revealed that he now has a title after a "friend of a friend" bestowed the honour upon him.

Writing to his 4.5 million fans on Twitter, the 'Give Me Love' hitmaker explained that a personal connection has led him to become a Baron, which he is excited about:

"A friend of a friend owns an oil rig that got made into a country legally, and called Sealand, which made him the king of Sealand..."

He continued: "Which means he can give out titles to people. So he's given me the title of Baron von Edward Sheeran. I am a Baron. Awesome s**t."

Sheeran was also presented with a framed certificate, confirming the new title, and he shared a photograph of it with his fans (pictured below).
