Ed Sheeran honoured with stage at Ipswich festival

Ed Sheeran has had a stage named after him at the Ipswich Music Day event.

The singer-songwriter was brought up near the area and performed at the festival in 2009 and 2010.

The stage he played on at the Christchurch Park event will now be called the Ed Sheeran Stage in an effort to promote the importance of upcoming talent.

The 'A Team' star said of the honour: "I remember playing at the event a few years ago and it was great fun."

This year's Music Day meanwhile is due to take place on July 7.

As previously reported, Ed Sheeran recently revealed that he could write more duets with touring buddy Taylor Swift.

They wrote the track 'Everything Has Changed' for the country-pop star's 2012 album 'Red' but it seems they could whip out their guitars whilst on tour this year in North America.
