Ed Sheeran has promised to marry his neighbour if he's still single at 40.

The British singer-songwriter seems relatively unlucky in love and he doesn't appear to currently have a partner.

He has long been linked to friend and touring buddy Taylor Swift but nothing has ever been forthcoming on that front.

Speaking to MTV, however, Sheeran revealed that he and a neighbour took inspiration from TV show Friends and devised a marriage pact should they both be single later in life. The 22-year-old said:

"I do have one of those pacts with a friend actually - my next door neighbour but it's [for when we're] 40. We got the pact from Friends. We watched Friends and we were like 'oh that sounds like a good idea' but I don't really want to reproduce with you right now."

Speaking meanwhile about rumours surrounding his personal life that appear in the media, the 'A Team' man said:

"There's lots of stuff in the press and some of it's very unbelievable and some of it isn't. Some of it's true and some of it isn't."
