Ed Sheeran hits back at Westboro Baptist Church picketers

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran slammed members of the Westboro Baptist Church after they protested one of Taylor Swift's recent tour dates in America.

Members of the church, which has a strong anti-gay agenda, turned up to Swift's Kansas City gig over the weekend and picketed outside of the Sprint Center venue. The WBC previously criticised the country-pop beauty, saying that she works a "‘girl next door’ country-singer shtick, while hopping from one young man to the next and strutting across the world stage like a proud whore”.

Sheeran, who is currently supporting her Red tour, took to his official Twitter page and expressed his distaste at the WBC: "To the people picketing outside the arena. Keep your homophobic views to yourself, it's 2013."

Swift, on the other hand, refused to allow it to impact her and simply tweeted: "I love you, Kansas City. Thank you for two wonderful shows!"
