Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has addressed the reports that suggest he is currently dating Ellie Goulding after they were photographed holding hands at the 2013 MTV VMAs.

After the story hit the headlines, Goulding tweeted: "I love that holding hands with my friends means we're an item. In that case I am in many relationships. Lover not a hater."

Sheeran has now explained to Click989 that despite her apparent denial of the situation they were romantically involved for a short while: "Normal people don't hold hands if they're just friends. It was going on. And now it's not. She's a really cool girl and she's very talented. She's had a number one single for three weeks in England now. It's all going well."

He also confessed that there is nothing going on between him and tour buddy Taylor Swift, adding: "If you can find a picture of me and Taylor holding hands, you won't be able to, because it doesn't exist... that's just people making assumptions because I was on tour with her."
