Ed Sheeran wrote 70 songs for new album

Ed Sheeran has admitted that he penned 70 songs for his next album.

The singer has been busy for months working on the follow-up to his hit 2011 debut '+' and it seems the Brit has been in prolific form.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the 'A Team' man admitted that he had a tough time reducing his song list to just twelve for the album's final cut. He said:

"I’ve had to whittle 70 songs down to 12."

Talking about the record's title meanwhile, Sheeran added: "I can’t call an album + and then give the one after a regular name."

As previously reported, the singer-songwriter recently revealed that he has been working with hitmaker Pharrell Williams on new material.
