Ella Henderson single receives chart boost after Hollyoaks cameo

Ella Henderson's new single has catapulted up the UK iTunes chart after it was featured in Hollyoaks.

The tune, which is being officially released on November 30, was used in the programme on Wednesday (November 12) when Gemma Merna character Carmel McQueen died in a train accident.

The song has launched up the iTunes list from No.200 to No.15 after being featured on the show.

Hollyoaks music department member Gemma Flaherty commented: “The episode was the biggest of the year and because I knew that the executive producer Bryan Kirkwood wanted an Ella track to be used I went straight for 'Yours'.

"Ella’s voice is so soft and the piano and instrumentation fitted with the tone of the scene. It’s ethereal and that works with the character of Carmel."

Pressparty meanwhile recently caught up with Hollyoaks' Gemma Merna to talk about her exit from show.
