Singer Ellie Goulding has revealed that she likes to get pumped up before going on stage by enjoying an alcoholic drink. 

Speaking to London's Metro newspaper, the 'Starry Eyed' hitmaker explained that she won't get drunk before performing live, but she does like to have a 'little drink' because it helps her to get in the mood: "If I have a little bit of drink, I just feel a bit more pumped and excited but I don't get drunk - that would be bad."

She went onto add that there was a period of time where she stopped drinking before hitting the stage, but it was while she was on the road with Bruno Mars and she missed out on some great partying as a result of her decision to abstain from alcohol:

"I always have a drink before I perform. The only time I didn't do that was when I thought I needed a bit of a break. I was on the Bruno Mars tour and that was probably the worst time not to drink. They all love to party and have fun. So I used that as my time to have a break. That was two years ago. I should probably do that again and have a detox!"
