Ellie Goulding has opened up about her relationship with Skrillex.

The British singer and the US dubstep dynamo were rumoured to be dating for some time before their partnership was officially confirmed earlier this year.

In an interview with The Sun, Goulding said that they met after recording a song together following an exchange of emails.

The duo made the song before Goulding grabbed a flight to the US on impulse and had the "best night ever" with Skrillex. When asked if they were boyfriend and girlfriend, the 'Halycon' star said:

"Yes. I met him because we emailed for a bit and we did a track together then we met in Memphis. I was out there for something, I remember out of impulse just getting on a flight and going to Memphis. Nothing happened or anything, but I hung out with him and his friends and just had the best night ever. That was kind of the beginning really."

Goulding concluded: "He is a lovely guy, he really is."
