Scottish songstress Emeli Sandé has revealed that she was "a big geek" during her school days. 

The 'Heaven' hitmaker, who recently admitted the first song she wrote was about aliens, told Q magazine that she thoroughly enjoyed challenging herself through learning and always took the hardest level classes she could:

"I was a big geek. I took the hardest classes I could, all the sciences. I loved being at the top."

She continued her education at university, where she studied for an obtained a degree in neuroscience and added:

"I'm fascinated by psychiatry and mental breakdown. I just hope I can put it all into my music."
