Bloc Party challenge Emeli Sandé for UK's No.1 album

Scottish songstress Emeli Sandé has remained at No.1 today in the UK midweek albums chart update, but Bloc Party are just 200 copies behind her with their new offering.

'Our Version Of Events' has managed to maintain its position, but the Official Charts Company has reported that there are only a couple of hundred copies between her and this week's No.2 record, which is 'Four' from Bloc Party.

The Darkness, who are currently supporting Lady Gaga on tour, have debuted at No.4 this afternoon (August 22) with 'Hot Cakes', Jessie Ware's 'Devotion' has made an appearance at No.5, and Aiden Grimshaw is celebrating the fact that his first album, 'Misty Eye', has charted at 7.

The end of the Olympics has also impacted the albums chart as the Spice Girls' 'Greatest Hits' has fallen 22 places to No.40, Kate Bush's 'The Whole Story' has dropped to 33, and 'Total Madness' by Madness is now at No.20.
