Emeli Sandé receives award from Irish university

Songstress Emeli Sandé was honoured by a top Irish university today for her contribution to music.

The 'Read All About It' hitmaker was presented with the James Joyce Award from officials at Ireland's University College Dublin Literary and Historical Society this afternoon in recognition of her outstanding success in the music industry.

Tweeting about the award, which has previously been given to the likes of Jack White and Roger Daltrey, Sandé wrote: "Just received the James Joyce Award at UCD , a huge huge honour! Thank you to all the students who came down today!"

She also told her Twitter followers that she was set to perform at the insitution of higher education to commemorate her win: "Performing at UCD this evening!"
