Emeli Sandé: "My success is weird"

Scottish songstress Emeli Sandé finds it "weird" how far she's come in the last year.

The 'Heaven' hitmaker has had a hugely successful 2012 with her debut studio album 'Our Version of Events' and was also asked to perform at the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies in London this summer.

Speaking to The List, the singer revealed: "It's weird to think this time last year no-one knew who I was. I've since had a number one album, two number one singles and performed in front of the world at the opening and closing Olympic ceremonies."

She added: "My highlight of the year was stepping out to sing 'Abide with Me' at the Olympics opening ceremony. That was a huge moment. And the most nerve-wracking of my life, not just the year. Partly because at the dress rehearsal, in front of 16,000 people, my mic wasn't working.

"However, I felt very calm when I stepped out. You can't really see people, you can only see lights. Everybody went very quiet. It was like being underwater."

Sandé also married Adam Gouraguine in August and explained: "Getting married was a highlight too, of course. It was the perfect day."
