(July 8th 2022 - Los Angeles, CA) Standing up for Watts with a scorching signature style ready to explode this summer, buzzing Los Angeles rapper D3szn unleashes his debut In My Projects EP today. Listen to the In My Projects EP— BELOW. Watch the video for “Goofy Ho” BELOW

He locked and loaded the project with seven airtight 21st century West Coast anthems. It opens with a hard-hitting throwback beat punctuated by finger-snaps during the warning of “Don’t Get Caught Lackin” [feat. Juice]. Guitar wraps around claps on “Show No Love” [feat. Fredo Bang], while “Letter to God” offers a moment of raw introspection as he prays through autotune on the track, “Lord, forgive me for my sins.” It all culminates on “Red Rags” [feat. YG & Mozzy]. These three California spitters lock into a punchy groove with one last undeniable chorus.

Check out the full tracklisting below.

He initially paved the way for the EP with “Mud Baby” [feat. Kalan.FrFr] and “Drip” [feat. E-40 & OHGEESY], putting up a million total streams in advance of its arrival. Right out of the gate, UPROXX touted it among “The Best New Hip Hop This Week” and raved, “It’s a punchy, un-PC, post-ratchet anthem and a salute to the grimy dudes down to do whatever for the come-up.” HipHopDX noted, “Watts-bred rapper D3szn continues to put on for the Westcoast on “Drip” with the help of California rap-heavy hitters E-40 and OhGeesy.” Bleu Mag proclaimed, “D3szn represents another chapter for the West Coast.”

Rising up out of the South Central neighborhood of Watts, D3szn represents another chapter for the West Coast. He sparked buzz with the likes of “Jump Out” before catching the attention of YG and landing a deal with 4Hunnid. He joined forces with YG on the anthem “Blood Walk” in addition to teaming up with Day Sulan and YG for 4hunnid Presents: Gang Affiliated. Beyond gathering tens of millions of streams, he has been featured by UPROXX, LA Weekly, Revolt, and more.

Allow D3szn to welcome you In My Projects now.

About

D3szn has always had to grind. The Watts, California-born rapper has made a name over the last few years distilling street tales and wise observations about life in his neighborhood into catchy, cathartic rap songs. D3 is a rising star, but he's had to work to get here — and to understand that getting here was even a possibility. TDE superstar (and fellow Watts native) Jay Rock was blowing up during D3’s childhood, which showed him that there was a world outside of the Nickerson Garden projects where he was born. That there was more to life than just getting by, than working dead-end jobs at discount department stores.

His short stint trying to make it in retail pushed him to get to work as an artist and, soon, he looked toward rapping himself. Shortly after, D3 recorded the groovy, schoolyard stomp, “Jump Out,” which would become a neighborhood hit and eventually find its way to another Los Angeles-area superstar, YG, who quickly inked the young star to his 4HUNNID label. His new single, “Drip,” with E-40 and OhGeesy, features bouncing bass and 808 handclaps that come straight from the annals from L.A. rap. The track finds the young talent linking up with two of his state’s stars, himself a stylist deeply reflective of the Cali tradition. But D3szn — a consummate hard worker — is constantly pushing his sound, fighting to stay ahead of the curve and to tell his story in a way that feels uniquely his. “I like to be different,” he explains. “I don't ride nobody else's wave.”
