Australia’s most beloved duo Peking Duk (who is Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles) return with undeniable energy on the release of their anthemic new single “Chemicals.” It’s a supercharged, synth-packed rollercoaster that’s sprinkled with all of the tricks and techniques that makes a Peking Duk track a Peking Duk track: there’s the emotion, the euphoria, and, of course, the party.

Co-written with the phenomenally talented Melbourne-born, LA-based Grammy nominated songwriter Sarah Aarons, this atmospheric hit offers a generous splash of iconic Peking Duk feels.
“‘Chemicals’ was born from a gloomy Melbourne’s day with the incredibly talented Sarah Aarons. I feel like every time we get in the room together the chemistry feels right and there doesn't feel to be any pressure to create something, it more so just flows out. We ironed out the ideas together that day then took the beat away with our boy Styalz and completely flipped it to what you hear now. We love this song more than anything we've released lately so we're very excited to share it with you all!” – Peking Duk

“Chemicals” is a tune about being in an abusive relationship (and the object of that relationship can be anything – a person, a substance, etc.). The song’s energy and electricity belies its more sincere subject matter. Written in under eight hours, similar to other Duk tracks, “Chemicals” started out as one thing – a melancholic ballad – and ended up shape shifting into this big, hard-hitting dance hall tune.

As such, “Chemicals” is an anthem post-Covid festivals should be warned about, because, to use the preferred terminology of Reuben Styles himself, ‘hooley dooley’ it’s going to go off. And after a year of no dancing, we can’t imagine those crazy Peking Duk fans leaving anything on the floor.
The tail end of 2021 is shaping up to be a large year for Peking Duk, with more tracks to follow and a live show to show the world.

Peking Duk’s expansive discography has amassed over 420 million streams globally and has achieved over 1.5 million ARIA accredited units which include the 5x Platinum hit “Stranger,” the 4x Platinum single “Fire” and the 3x Platinum favorites “Reprisal,” “Fake Magic” and “High.”
