Australia’s most beloved duo Peking Duk (who is Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles) return with undeniable energy on the release of their anthemic new single “Chemicals.” It’s a supercharged, synth-packed rollercoaster that’s sprinkled with all of the tricks and techniques that makes a Peking Duk track a Peking Duk track: there’s the emotion, the euphoria, and, of course, the party.

Co-written with the phenomenally talented Melbourne-born, LA-based Grammy nominated songwriter Sarah Aarons, this atmospheric hit offers a generous splash of iconic Peking Duk feels.
“Chemicals” is a tune about being in an abusive relationship (and the object of that relationship can be anything – a person, a substance, etc.). The song’s energy and electricity belies its more sincere subject matter. Written in under eight hours, similar to other Duk tracks, “Chemicals” started out as one thing – a melancholic ballad – and ended up shape shifting into this big, hard-hitting dance hall tune.
As such, “Chemicals” is an anthem post-Covid festivals should be warned about, because, to use the preferred terminology of Reuben Styles himself, ‘hooley dooley’ it’s going to go off. And after a year of no dancing, we can’t imagine those crazy Peking Duk fans leaving anything on the floor.
Peking Duk’s expansive discography has amassed over 420 million streams globally and has achieved over 1.5 million ARIA accredited units which include the 5x Platinum hit “Stranger,” the 4x Platinum single “Fire” and the 3x Platinum favorites “Reprisal,” “Fake Magic” and “High.”
Peking Duk are Australia’s most beloved music duo; made-up of Canberra, Australia natives Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles. 2020 was huge for the duo, which included their massive dancefloor collaboration “Nothing To Love About Love'' with The Wombats and the anthemic single “Move” featuring Alisa Xalayith of The Naked and Famous. “Move” was the follow up to Peking Duk’s 2019 ARIA certified GOLD single “Sugar” with fellow Australian Jack River, as well as “Ur Eyez” alongside Al Wright of Cloud Control. The band also spent months on the road taking their tour ‘The Biggest Tour Ever…So Far’ to over 50,000 Australians, including a sold out Hordern Pavilion in Sydney. Peking Duk have also taken their live show far beyond Australian borders, performing to sold-out crowds in venues and festivals across the US, UK, Asia and Europe. Boasting over 300 million artist streams and 1.5 million monthly listeners, Peking Duk have received eight ARIA nominations and two wins for 2014’s breakthrough hit “High” (Best Dance Release ARIA, certified 4x platinum, #2 on triple j Hottest 100 and over 80M streams) and 2017’s ‘Stranger’ (Song Of The Year ARIA, certified 3x Platinum with over 70M streams). They have worked with some of the biggest names in the game including Riton, AlunaGeorge, The Wombats, Icona Pop, SAFIA, and Tommy Trash.
