Black Eyed Peas star Fergie is pregnant with her first child.

The 37-year-old songstress took to Twitter today to announce her and husband Josh Duhamel's happy news.

In a post on the social networking, Fergie wrote: "Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! #mylovelybabybump (sic)."

The star posted an accompanying picture of a superimposed childhood picture of herself and her actor beau.

Duhamel copied the same message on his Twitter page, writing: "Fergie and Me and BABY makes three. #MyLovelyBabyBump (sic)."

Fergie's representative has since confirmed the news.

Fergie and Duhamel have never hidden their desire to have children. The couple - who married at the beginning of 2009 - spoke about wanting to start a family on Oprah's Next Chapter at the end of last year.

Talking about the number of children they would like, Fergie revealed: "We negotiated that early on. Two is our number."

Duhamel also gushed about his wife, adding she would make a fabulous mother: "My mother was a teacher. Both of her parents were teachers. We both had to work for what we got. We're both Catholic," he explained. "There were a lot of things that were really compatible between us. But at the end of the day, she's just an amazing girl."
