Fifth Harmony's Dinah: 'Growing up, I was told I wasn't good enough to join my family's music group'

'Sledgehammer' beauties Fifth Harmony are enjoying increasing success lately and one of the girls has revealed that when she grew up, she tried to join her family's musical group although she was told she wasn't talented enough so just sat back and sang quietly.

Songstress Dinah Jane Hansen sat down for a chat with Digital Spy and opened up about her musical upbringing, which she credited with being a valuable member in 5H now:

"Growing up, for me, it was in a musical family so my mom and her brothers and sisters always sang. Every time I tried to join their group when I was little, they were like, 'Ah darling you're not too good - just sit back and watch us.' So I was always on the side studying them - like the harmonies and who sang where. So being in a girl group now, I feel like I was prepped for this. It was kind of like fate."

Fifth Harmony, meanwhile, are heading to the UK later this week for a special live performance on 'The X Factor'and Dinah Jane confessed that the pressure is on: "They told us being on The X Factor was like the VMAs - only the big-time people perform on there. I feel like going out there, there is some pressure because we're performing in front of a new crowd - and it's where X Factor originated so we need to make sure we're on point."
