Fifth Harmony are set to bag an honour at this year's Billboard Women in Music event.

The girl band will collect the Group of the Year award at the shindig on December 11 in New York.

The former X Factor USA stars will also perform on the night.

Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media's Entertainment Group - who own Billboard - said:

"Fifth Harmony defines the consummate group dynamic: five women with a strong, united voice and a commitment to celebrating female empowerment.

"In the few short years since they formed on The X Factor this diverse group of women has managed to make chart-topping music, develop a legion of passionate fans around the world and use their platform to promote self-esteem.

"They do it all so well, the very definition of a 'Group of the Year'."

Other previously announced award recipients include Lady Gaga (Woman of the Year), Selena Gomez (Chart Topper) and Lana Del Rey (Trailblazer).

The event will be broadcast in the US on Lifetime on December 18.
