Fifth Harmony album goes gold in US after streaming added to sales

Fifth Harmony's debut album 'Reflection' has now gone gold in the US.

The group's 2015 effort reached the milestone after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) added streaming to their sales figures.

This means that the record has shifted over 500,000 units.

From Monday (February 1), the RIAA is counting streaming in their sales figures, with 1,500 streams equal to one album sale.

A single download now is equivalent to 150 streams, up from 100.

Other albums to have changed certification as a result include Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' (platinum) and The Weeknd’s 'Beauty Behind The Madness' (2x multi-platinum).

Michael Jackson's 1982 classic 'Thriller' is now 32x platinum.
