Fifth Harmony open up about naming their new album '7/27'

Girl group Fifth Harmony recently stopped by the 92.3 AMP radio station to talk about their forthcoming new album, entitled '7/27'.

Songstress Normani explained the process that went into deciding on the record's title: "Well, I thought it would be a good idea to have a number. I was like, 'hey girls, don't you think it would be cool, visually, to have a number?' Then Lauren texted and was like, 'hey... 7/27'. I asked, 'what's that?' and she was like, 'that's the day we were formed!'"

Lauren Jauregui then added: "So, we commemorated it. That was when we were formed, this is our new era and this is us being born again."

When asked what they enjoyed the most about recording this new offering, member Ally Brooke explained that being open and vulnerable made it such a different experience to what they're all used to: "It was cool because we were able to have so much input on it. So this one felt more authentic and we felt our growth, for sure. I really like how we were able to hone in to different emotions... more vulnerable, which is something we really wanted to do."

'7/27' is due to be officially released later this spring on May 20 and Normani recently admitted that it feels like a different direction for them: "We felt like our last album had a lot of different types of songs, with different energies. But this one has a story. We've been able to give [the producers] input as far as exactly what we want, so they kind of started from the ground up and went based on conversations that we had."
